Being aware of West African countries’ high exposure to the damage of climate change, the West African Science Service on Climate Change and Adapted land used, WASCAL, has been working with the National Meteorological Services and Agencies (NMSAs) of its member countries to ensure climate data availability to support research, education, climate service development, and capacity building.
WASCAL through funding from BMBF procured from NESA, donated and installed in 2017 and 2018, a total of 50 Automatic Weather Stations in its then member countries (Ghana, Togo, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Gambia, and Senegal) in a joint and close collaboration with the NMSA in charge in each country. Memorandums of Understandings (MoUs) were signed, and engagements taken by each party in terms of equipment maintenance and data sharing to support research, education, climate service development, and capacity building.

This dataset provides the full documentation and details about the components and platforms attached to the NESA manufactured Automatic Weather Stations. These user's manual documents are copyrighted by NESA and should not be modified. They should be shared as they are and NESA accordingly cited as author.
